Your Teacher
Raised in the culture of Salsa Caleña without even realizing it, Betzoley Steegers' passion for this style of dance was reignited when she witnessed a performance of it during the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show. She knew she had to learn more about this energetic, fast-paced dance form, and so she traveled to Cali, Colombia to train with some of the best teachers in the field.
Betzoley's dedication to Salsa Caleña has led her to participate in major events such as Salsodromo, and to dance with Swing Latino at Mulato Cabaret. Through her training and experiences, she has become an expert in the intricacies of the style, from the fast and intricate footwork to the expressive body movements.
Now, as the founder and lead instructor of Jawn Dance Studio, Betzoley is sharing her passion for Salsa Caleña with others. She is dedicated to helping her students unlock their own love of dance and to master the rhythms and movements of this dynamic style. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, Betzoley will guide you through the steps and help you find your own path to becoming a skilled Salsa Caleña dancer.

Inspiration
Born from a mix of Cuban and Colombian heritage, Betzoley has been deeply influenced by artists like Pitbull, who have been able to bring people from different cultures and backgrounds together through their music.
As a skilled Salsa dancer, she is well-versed in a variety of styles, including LA-style, NY-style, and more. However, her true passion lies in Salsa Caleña, a fast and energetic style that originated in Cali, Colombia. Cali-style Salsa is renowned for its rich and diverse movements, incorporating elements from all other styles of Salsa dancing, truly capturing the joy and spirit of Latin dance.
Betzoley believes that Salsa Caleña has the power to bring people together and create a sense of community, just like Pitbull has done with his music. She is dedicated to sharing this style with the public in Philadelphia and hopes to use it as a way to unite the Latino community and celebrate the diversity of Latin culture
Motivation
The routine performed by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2020 included elements of Salsa Caleña, a style of salsa dancing that originated in Cali, Colombia.
The dance features fast and intricate footwork, with a greater emphasis on the lower body and a lot of hip and body movements. The style is also known for its lively and energetic movements, including spins, dips, and other partner work.
The inclusion of Salsa Caleña in the halftime performance helped to showcase the style to a global audience and increased its visibility and popularity in the United States.
